Patti reported a Scammer/Fraudster (2093201388 from STOCKTON area, CA). The following comments were posted: Called the number back and Chris answered the phone. I asked to speak to Jim Washington and he said he was his representative (could not even pronounce the word representative) and I could speak to him. He knew my name based on the number I was calling from. He said I needed to hire an attorney for tax years 2009 and 2010. I asked him what it was about and he said a legal matter and cut off. I called him back and told him I needed more info to tell my attorney and he said to have my attorney call him. FYI - the IRS will never make calls like this and the IRS will never ask you for your social security number over the phone. The IRS will also never speak to anybody about your taxes without a valid Power of Attorney on file. I asked Chris if he knew that tax year 2009 was closed by statute and he said it was not closed and I didnt need to be a smart aleck. Tried calling him back but he would no longer answer the phone.
