John Doe reported a Scammer/Fraudster (2093201388 from STOCKTON area, CA). The following comments were posted: I was contacted by "Jason Curtis" from the "IRS" on Saturday, and again today (its odd that a government office is calling on a Federal Holiday?!). The caller spoke with a heavy accent (it sounded like an Indian or Pakistani accent) making his pronunciation difficult to understand. However, he did enunciate "IRS - the Internal Revenue Service." The IRS apparently has news reports about a widespread (meaning all across the U.S.) tax scam where callers falsely claim to be tax agents alleging the victim owes money and requesting payment using a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer. You can find further information on such scams by going to the IRS.gov webpage, clicking on "News Events," "The Newsroom Topics," and "Tax Scams." You can also do a Google search with, "IRS Warns of Pervasive Telephone Scam," and "IRS Warns Taxpayers of New E-mail Scams." Permalink: http://www.numberinvestigator.com/phone/209-320-1388.html
